Cleaning Your Projector Filter

Typically after 100 hours of use an LCD projector will display a message stating that it is time to clean the LCD projector’s filter. Filter cleaning is quick and easy, here’s how it’s done.

  1. If the LCD projector is on and running press the standby button twice and wait for the projector to shut down and give it a few minutes to cool down before moving. Unplug the power once it's cooled down a bit (or if was already cool).

  2. Gently turn the LCD projector over and lay it on it’s top.

  3. Slide the plastic filter retainer off the bottom of the LCD projector

  4. Remove the black plastic filter from the filter retainer.

  5. Clean the dust out the filter. You can clean the filter by blowing on it or better yet use a can of compressed air such as Office Duster by Quill. You can also wash the filter with water, but make sure to dry it completely before putting it back in the projector. Remember to remove the filter from the filter retainer or you will not be able to get the filter clean. Below you see a dirty filter on the left and a cleaned one on the right.

  6. Place the filter back into the filter retainer.

  7. Slide the filter retainer back on to the LCD projector.

  8. Set the LCD projector back up where desired, plug the power cord back in and power back on.
  9. Reset your filter timer, how to do this will vary between projectors. Get into your projectors options menu (ideally using the remote control, but it can be done with the buttons on the unit) and look for 'Filter timer' and the option to reset it (this is sometimes under 'Advanced options').
