Perform the following steps to wirelessly connect a work laptop computer to your home Internet service provider.

These instructions are for Windows XP computers.

Establish a wireless connection to your wireless router at home:

  • start button
  • →control panel
  • →network connections
  • →double-click wireless network connections
  • →select your home wireless network
  • type in your home wireless connection “network key” in the dialog box
This should connect you to your network at home.

To surf the web do the following:

If Firefox has been set up correctly it will work at home without any adjustments. If you need to use Internet Explorer do the following:

  1. Open IE browser
  2. Select Tools→internet options from the menu bar
  3. Select the “connections” tab
  4. Select “LAN settings” button near the bottom
  5. Under the “proxy server” settings, uncheck the box labeled “use a proxy server”
  6. Select “ok” to close that dialog box
  7. Select “ok” again to close the other dialog box
  8. You should now be able to surf the internet.
